[Congratulations]
Just wanted to do a quick post to congratulate a customer on his accomplishment of finishing 12th at the Blood, Sweat and Gears ride held last weekend. This ride is legendary in the Southeast for its 13,000+ feet of climbing. He improved his finishing spot by a few places over 2008 as well as breaking the five hour mark which was his major goal for the ride. He brought his Serotta Ottrott to us for a new SRAM Red group as well as new EDGE wheels handbuilt with DT Swiss 190 ceramic hubs about two months ago. Weight of the bike went down around two pounds! I have attached some before and after pictures. Congratulations to David as well as all of our customers who finished Blood, Sweat and Gears.

[Pegoretti Build]
Our best customer brought this frame in for Frank to build for him. He purchased the frame used wanting and relishing the chance to add a Pegoretti to his collection as well as ride the Big Leg Emma and its heralded ride. These frames can be tough to get and are unique in that the Columbus steel tubes have very large diameters especially for the chain and seat stays. From first glance, it does not look like a steel frame at all until you pay attention to the details. The frame is just an absolute beauty and was fun to build! After some consultations, he decided on trying the new Campy Super Record group for the first time. Wheels carry on the current trend of EDGE 1.45 45mm tubular rims laced to DT Swiss 190 ceramic hubs with DT Swiss Aerolite bladed spokes. Stem and handlebar as well as the seatpost are Deda Zero100. These pictures just do not convey how nice this build really is in person. Enjoy!

[Giant TCR Advanced SL 1 with Di2]
We just built this new Giant TCR Advanced SL 1 for one of our best customers who wanted the Shimano Dura-Ace group upgraded to the new Dura-Ace Di2 electronic group. The complete bike as pictured weighed 15.75 pounds, so there is very little weight gain going with electronic group. The Fizik handlebar tape in metallic blue complemented the metallic blue Continental GP4000 tires as well as the blue in the frame itself. The saddle is the standby Selle Italia Flite Genuine Gel. Handlebar and stem are Deda Newton 31.7. The Di2 group is rather amazing with very fast shifting. It was a very fun bike to build and was happy to deliver the bike the day before our customer's birthday. What a great way to spend your birthday by riding a new bike!
[Salsa Casseroll]
We sold this Salsa Casseroll to a customer who wanted to upgrade several components on the bike. The brown Chris King Sotto Voce headset looked great on the bike. Enjoy.

[Moots Mooto-X YBB Rohloff]
One of our good customers came to us a few months ago looking for a new Moots to add to his collection and finished the build a little over a week ago. He was interested in a singlespeed but was unsure if he had the ability and conditioning to push one gear especially on his trips to Pisgah and western North Carolina. After some research and discussions, he decided on the Mooto-X YBB frame with the Rohloff internal gear option. The Rohloff gives the appearance of a singlespeed but packs 14 speeds into one of the best internal geared hubs in the world. Besides the stock Mooto-X 19" frame, we chose a Moots Cinch Layback seatpost and Open Trail stem after a fitting session. To complement the blue in the Fox 29er 80mm fork, he decided on a navy Chris King Sotto Voce NoThreadSet and a navy bottom bracket. Wheels were built with DT X470 rims and a Chris King front ISO disc hub and a Rohloff rear disc Speedhub using DT Swiss Competition spokes and ProLock nipples. We used a Race Face Deus singlespeed crankset and 32x13 gearing. Our customer's brake preference is Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes actuated by Avid's Speed Dial Ulimate brake levers. Front rotor size is 185mm with the rear being 160mm. Tires are Kenda 29er tires; front is a Nevegal and rear is Small Block 8. It was a fun build. Enjoy!

[Salsa & News]
Sorry the lack of news here over the past few weeks. We have been very busy which we are grateful for in light of the current economy. So, many thanks to our loyal customers for supporting us. Just wanted to let everyone know we just received a small shipment of Salsa frames and bikes listed below in the store. Feel free to stop by the store or e-mail us with any questions.

Selma 29er frame, Medium (18")
Big Mama 29er frame, Medium (18")
Casseroll Triple complete bike, 51cm (54cm)

Also for the next week or so, we will be moving the store around a little to make room for an improved fit area since we are now the new Serotta dealer for the Triangle. We are very excited about the new brand addition and will have some more information for everyone next week. So, please excuse the mess for the time being. Thanks!

[Pivot Firebird]
We did this frame swap for another great customer a few weeks ago. He retired his Titus El Guapo frame and upgraded to a new 2009 Pivot Firebird frame. He also went with a custom Chris King Devolution headset allowing the 1-1/8" Fox 36 Float from his El Guapo to be used with the 1.5" head tube of the Firebird. The color scheme of the headset also brought together the other colors he used on his Chris King wheels that we had built for him. Complete bike came in under 30 pounds, and so far, he is very impressed with his new ride.

[Wheel Upgrade]
A good customer of the store purchased this 2009 Giant Trinity Alliance 1 a few months ago to do some time trials and the occasional triathlon. Fairly quickly, she decided to upgrade the wheels to improve the performance of the bike as well as her times. We built her this wheel set using the newly introduced Edge Composites 1.45 45mm tubular rim previously shown here in the news area. Hubs were DT Swiss 190 with ceramic bearings, and the spokes were DT Aerolite bladed in black. The new wheel set weighed less than 1150 grams and dropped over 2 pounds off the weight of the complete bike!
